MUSIC HAMPER DONATION - THE RECHORDS
Massive thank you to those handsome hillbilly guys of
The Rechords for donating not one but
TWO copies of their fantastic CD "On The Wagon" plus
one guy's AND one girl's special Rechords T-shirt to the Hi-Fallutin MUSIC hamper.
Thank you for supporting beyondblue! xoxoxoxo
On a mild Winter’s day back in August 2009 it all began, about one year on from there and The ReChords released their debut album “ON THE WAGON” on a brand new local label, Bundoora Records and contains 15 tunes, 9 original tracks and 6 obscure vintage covers from their combined musical collections. And now on their 2nd anniversary they have just embarked on their very first international tour which took in two major festivals and about 8 sideshows through Germany, Belgium, The Nederlands and Spain, all self funded and self organized. Whist in Berlin, studio time was booked to begin laying down tracks for a followup album and back here in Melbourne further local shows, national tours and festivals are set firmly in their sights for 2012.
With a growing audience following from a long list of shows and support & admiration from musical peers like Abbie Cardwell, Mikeangelo, Clairy Browne & the Bangin’ Rackettes, Little John, Wagons and many others, The ReChords show no signs of holding back….
they’re saddling up for a long ride ahead.

MUSIC HAMPER DONATION - DIAMOND DOUG WILSHIRE
Mega High-Fives to Mr Diamond Doug Wilshire for donating his new CD
"Cuz of You" to the MUSIC hamper.
Thank you so much for supporting this fantastic charity xoxoxoxo
‘Diamond’ Doug Wilshire was irresistibly drawn to the guitar by the likes of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Cliff Gallup, Django Reinhardt and Jerry Reed.
In 1982, inspired by the success of bands like the Stray Cats who spearheaded a resurgence in rockabilly, he left his homeland of Canada to make it as a musician on Sydney’s northern beaches. He was 17 and had little more than a guitar, massive hair and a driving ambition to perform.
After signing with Regular Records in 1984, Doug achieved chart success with his first Aussie band, The Jaguars reaching number 4 on the Australian charts.
Throughout the 80’s and 90’s Diamond Doug toured with the likes of Ricky Nelson, Glenn Shorrock, The Johnny O’Keefe Band, and many other local and international acts.
In 1998 Doug formed the band the Chrome Daddies. The Daddies toured Australia, Europe and the U.K. many times in their ten year career, and recorded five successful albums.
After the demise of the Chrome Daddies, Doug was signed to the German label Rhythm Bomb Records and has recorded two solo albums, and toured many times as far afield as Finland, Croatia, Germany, Switzerland, U.K. Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart, Slovenia, France, Belgium, Holland and many more stops round the world!
Earlier this year life came full circle when he supported the Stray Cats on the Brisbane leg of their world tour.
His songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as Pep Torres, Round up Boys, Ike and the Capers, Jason Lee Wilson and the runner-up of German Idol!

MUSIC HAMPER DONATION - THE FLATTRAKKERS
The Flattrakkers have been wonderful enough to donate a mega-pack of awesome stuff to the MUSIC raffle hamper. Stickers! Tshirt! THREE CDS! UNBELIEVABLE!
Thank you so much guys!
Can you smell the methanol??……The Flattrakkers new album “Winner Takes All” is finally here. Hot off the press the boys have put down an all new 14 track variety feast for all. They’re stoked with the result and can’t wait to bring it to you.
The band is Mark Hawkins, Bruce Findlay and Matt Ward and together they’ve played many a gig around Newcastle and Sydney and travelled regularly interstate to showcase their very own revved up sound. In March 2010 the boys were invited to New Zealand for the Beach Hop Festival and were met with such a sizzling reception the organisers quickly locked them in for 2011.
In 2004 The Flattrakkers recorded their debut album High Octane and were overwhelmed by the response received here in Australia and around the world. The album was enough to set their “sound” and The Flattrakkers name in concrete.
In 2008 Speedcar Demon was released with the same response from fans although leaving them begging for more. High Octane and Speedcar Demon continue to gain momentum and attention to this day with tunes being featured in many a hot rod/racing doco (in at least 3 countries) and the title track High Octane also gets a run in the Paul Hogan movie Charlie & Boots.
These local boys will continue to raise the stakes both near and far and are a real eye-opener to see live. They work extra hard to make sure each gig is a new experience with plenty of originals and covers from artists such as Johnny Cash, Wayne Hancock, Bruce Springsteen, The Stray Cats and even Billy Idol.
The boys are fresh back from the New Zealand Beach Hop and are bursting for the official Newcastle CD launch which will be held at the Five Islands Rec Club (Speers Point RSL) on Friday April 1st. They’d love to see y’all there.
