MUSIC HAMPER DONATION - DIAMOND DOUG WILSHIRE

Mega High-Fives to Mr Diamond Doug Wilshire for donating his new CD
"Cuz of You" to the MUSIC hamper.
Thank you so much for supporting this fantastic charity xoxoxoxo

‘Diamond’ Doug Wilshire was irresistibly drawn to the guitar by the likes of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Cliff Gallup, Django Reinhardt and Jerry Reed.

In 1982, inspired by the success of bands like the Stray Cats who spearheaded a resurgence in rockabilly, he left his homeland of Canada to make it as a musician on Sydney’s northern beaches. He was 17 and had little more than a guitar, massive hair and a driving ambition to perform.

After signing with Regular Records in 1984, Doug achieved chart success with his first Aussie band, The Jaguars reaching number 4 on the Australian charts.

Throughout the 80’s and 90’s Diamond Doug toured with the likes of Ricky Nelson, Glenn Shorrock, The Johnny O’Keefe Band, and many other local and international acts.

In 1998 Doug formed the band the Chrome Daddies. The Daddies toured Australia, Europe and the U.K. many times in their ten year career, and recorded five successful albums.

After the demise of the Chrome Daddies, Doug was signed to the German label Rhythm Bomb Records and has recorded two solo albums, and toured many times as far afield as Finland, Croatia, Germany, Switzerland, U.K. Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart, Slovenia, France, Belgium, Holland and many more stops round the world!

Earlier this year life came full circle when he supported the Stray Cats on the Brisbane leg of their world tour.

His songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as Pep Torres, Round up Boys, Ike and the Capers, Jason Lee Wilson and the runner-up of German Idol!
